41,000 is the example result. Read it using the units and relationship stated below.

Result = [Stage 1 pipeline] × [Stage 1 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 2 pipeline] × [Stage 2 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 3 pipeline] × [Stage 3 probability] ÷ 100
Purpose

Weighted Pipeline uses stage 1 pipeline, stage 1 probability, stage 2 pipeline.

Turning the revenue target into a measurable sales workload

For weighted pipeline, the relationship is Result = [Stage 1 pipeline] × [Stage 1 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 2 pipeline] × [Stage 2 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 3 pipeline] × [Stage 3 probability] ÷ 100. The amount depends on the supplied stage 1 pipeline, stage 1 probability, rather than a live market price or a value imported from another record. Pipeline planning joins deal value, conversion and time. The model should use opportunities that meet a defined qualification stage, rather than every contact in the CRM. Deal concentration matters when a few large accounts dominate an average.

What the model includes

Result = [Stage 1 pipeline] × [Stage 1 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 2 pipeline] × [Stage 2 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 3 pipeline] × [Stage 3 probability] ÷ 100 The forecast is a planning relationship. Closed revenue, bookings and collected cash are different source measures; choose the one represented by the field labels. Compare a forecast with its stage evidence before assigning delivery or hiring commitments. Review the gap by account and owner. Increasing an average deal value on a worksheet is not evidence that the current pipeline can deliver that value.

Example with the supplied inputs

Stage 1 pipeline: 50000; Stage 1 probability: 20; Stage 2 pipeline: 30000; Stage 2 probability: 50; Stage 3 pipeline: 20000; Stage 3 probability: 80. Result: 41,000. The values are illustrative.

Compare one changed input

Stage 1 pipeline changes from 50000 to 55000. The result becomes 42,000. All other inputs remain fixed.

Calculation rule

Formula

Result = [Stage 1 pipeline] × [Stage 1 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 2 pipeline] × [Stage 2 probability] ÷ 100 + [Stage 3 pipeline] × [Stage 3 probability] ÷ 100

Inputs and output

Example inputs and entry conventions
Input Example value Entry convention
Stage 1 pipeline 50000 Use the source quantity represented by stage 1 pipeline. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.
Stage 1 probability 20 Use the source quantity represented by stage 1 probability. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.
Stage 2 pipeline 30000 Use the source quantity represented by stage 2 pipeline. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.
Stage 2 probability 50 Use the source quantity represented by stage 2 probability. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.
Stage 3 pipeline 20000 Use the source quantity represented by stage 3 pipeline. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.
Stage 3 probability 80 Use the source quantity represented by stage 3 probability. Keep the counted population fixed and avoid mixing a unit value with a period total.

Output: 41,000 is the example result. Read it using the units and relationship stated below. Use the formula to distinguish a cash amount, count, percentage or ratio.

How to use the page

STEP 01

Collect the inputs

Gather Stage 1 pipeline, Stage 1 probability, Stage 2 pipeline. Use one period and the units shown in the form.

STEP 02

Run the calculation

Enter the values and select the action. The calculation rule above explains how the inputs produce the result.

STEP 03

Compare a scenario

Change Stage 1 pipeline on its own, keeping the other inputs fixed. Read both results before changing another assumption.

Worked example

With the example inputs listed above, the result is 41,000.

Change Stage 1 pipeline from 50000 to 55000 while keeping every other value fixed. The result becomes 42,000. This comparison isolates that input; it does not forecast how other variables will respond.

Check the stated formula, units and limits before using the result in a decision.

Calculation and source notes

Keep the displayed formula, input units and model scope with the result. Corrections or questions can be sent through the request section on this page.
